Warning Stations Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Parnaíba

Warning Stations - Sul de Minas / Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba / Mogiana

The team of technicians from Fundação Procafé, in partnership with MAPA, constantly monitors the climatic and phytosanitary conditions of crops in the regions of Sul de Minas, Triângulo Mineiro / Alto Paranaíba and Mogiana – SP. In this monitoring, in addition to climate averages and pest and disease indices, the water balance of water in the soil is carried out, as well as the average growth and leafing of coffee crops.

A Bulletin of Phytosanitary Warnings is prepared monthly, which is sent via e-mail to the general public, as well as made available on the internet, mainly for producer assistance technicians (the main disseminators of information), the press in general, coffee growers, students and culture researchers. These Phytosanitary Warning Stations reach, directly and indirectly, approximately 50,000 beneficiaries in these coffee growing regions.

Faced with the constant climate changes that have been taking place, the phytosanitary warning bulletin serves as a guideline at the right time, for decision-making in the adoption of phytosanitary control and irrigation practices. It also contributes to the understanding of the effects of climate on the different phenological stages of coffee development and its consequences for the final production of plants. In this way, in advance, producers and technicians have a tool to assist them in planning the management of the coffee plantation.

Through the bulletins it is possible to obtain information about temperatures; rainfall volume; foliage percentage; water balance compared to the historical average for the region; vegetative growth; incidence of pests and diseases, such as: Rust, Cercospora, Bicho-Miner, Phoma, Borca and Mite. And, based on these data, it is possible to rationalize the use of pesticides, contributing to greater environmental sustainability in coffee plantations, reducing production costs and, consequently, increasing their profitability. With the water balance data it is still possible to determine the water depths to be applied in irrigated crops.
